Easter Egg Raffle 2013

This year’s Easter egg raffle was won by Plumbing tutor Ian Wileman, with a runner-up prize going to Dale Greenwell from Plastering. Ian’s lucky ticket was drawn by Barry Dolan from the hundreds of tickets sold, and awarded Ian the prize of 5 large Easter eggs.
 
The raffle was a great success, with over £75 being raised for the bowel cancer unit at Barnsley Hospital.
The department would like to thank all staff and students who took part in the raffle for contributing to the funds raised for this great cause.

 

Professional Studies Football Match

Here are some of the students who took part in the Professional Studies football match at the Honeywell Sports Centre on the 19th of March 2013.
 
The final score was 9-6 to the second year team, who now have bragging rights over the first years until the next match. Well done!
 
Winner team- the 2nd Year Professional Studies Students.
The 1st Year side- hoping for better luck next term.

Construction at the Progression Fair 2013

The Progression Fair is an annual event in the Atrium that encourages current Barnsley College students to explore their options for the next academic year.

All departments have a stall to advertise the courses they have on offer and this year our Construction stand was represented by Wall and Floor Tiling staff and students doing a mosaic activity.

Jason Whitehead wins the E & R Fuller Award for Bricklaying

Bricklaying student Jason Whitehead has won another award for his excellent work!

 
On Monday he was awarded the E & R Fuller Award for Bricklaying by The Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers.
 
The award acknowledges Jason's success in 2012 as the national winner of the Skillbuild competition. In the same year he was named the Hanson Young Bricklayer of the Year and also won a Barnsley College Excellence award and a Proud of Barnsley award.
